What do you do when life keeps knocking you down over and over again? You get up and keep on going – as Esther d/o Sivaprakasam does.

While most teenagers whine about having too much homework or not enough pocket money from their parents, Esther d/o Sivaprakasam has had to contend with a very different set of issues in her life. Orphaned at eight, 16-year-old Esther, now a Secondary 4 student at the NUS High School of Mathematics and Science, has had to overcome various obstacles to get to where she is today – the winner of an MDIS scholarship that will help take care of her university fees.
