Violence Kills

Indian students remain soft targets Down Under.

By Nithya Subramanian

Reports of violence against Indian students in Australia have become an everyday affair with the relationship between the two nations hitting a low.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs has been constantly seeking the intervention of the Australian authorities. Minister S M Krishna recently said that the continuing attacks could “affect bilateral ties”.

“Unless there is an immediate stop to all such attacks, our people-to-people level exchanges which includes education and tourism will get adversely affected,” he said

Pressure also seems to be building within the island nation. Universities Australia, a body, which represents 39 educational institutes has expressed disappointment as State and Federal governments did not respond to early warnings.
