By Maya Tsering Bhalla
When I joined AIESEC in January 2011, I was told I could expect to visit any country in the world for work and a truly international experience. I got just that. My first traineeship with AIESEC from mid-December 2011 to early February 2012 was memorable not only for the wealth of experience I gained, but also for the place I lived in – Siberia, Russia in the height of winter! I had always wanted an exotic and challenging destination, and I was lucky to be chosen as I’m told there were many applications from around the world. Despite being in the Tundra, the capital Novosibirsk, where I worked and lived, was as urbanised as any other western city. After all, it is the third largest city in Russia.
