The Luxury of Living in India
The cheap service that we often take for granted is unavailable anywhere else in the world.

“What will you miss most about India?” I asked an expat friend who was returning home. Her answer caught me off guard. She said that she would miss her visits to the beauty parlour and her incredible massage woman, who used to massage her in the comfort of her own home. She was absolutely right! When I lived in New York and Bangkok, that was the luxury I missed the most. Where else in the world can you get a
one-hour, full body and head massage for just Rs 400? Not even in Bangkok, where they are so good . The Indian masseurs of today are trained in a range of massage techniques. So, you can have everything from a good, old-fashioned body massage to an Ayurvedic massage or a deep pressure point treatment. Then, there is the Indian head massage, which is not something you’ll find in Thailand. The Indian head massage is of cultural significance in India, and was part of what neighbourhood barbers used to give a man after his shave and hair cut. Now, all beauty parlours offer it.
